Message regarding a server that was previously managed by a management console

Use this procedure to learn what to do if you receive a message regarding a server that was previously managed by a management console.

The following message might be displayed if you previously used a management console to manage the server, but you disconnected the management console because you no longer want to use it to manage the server:

This partition does not have the authority to perform the requested function. Verify that this partition has service authority. If the problem persists after granting the partition service authority, then contact your service support structure.

In this situation, you need to perform the following tasks to solve the problem:

  1. If you have logical partitions, ensure that one of your logical partitions is designated to be a service partition for the managed system. For more information, see Designating the service partition for your managed system.
  2. Change the firmware update policy from the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to the Operating System. For instructions about how to change the policy, see Changing the firmware update policy.
Note: For more information on disconnecting a managed system from an HMC, see Deleting a managed system.
